About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessments, intake, care planning, and light case management for program participants
  • Coordinate care in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team
  • Support participants in navigating administrative and financial requirements for pharmaceutical access
  • Provide outreach-based supports including community accompaniment, home visits, and advocacy
  • Distribute safer drug use supplies, safer sex supplies, and naloxone kits
  • Utilize brief assessment, crisis response, and counseling skills to address immediate needs
  • Maintain confidential records in accordance with privacy requirements
  • Assist with overdose response and other medical emergencies as required

Requirements

  • University degree in health, social services, counseling, social work, or psychology
  • Minimum of four years of experience in direct social service delivery, ideally in harm reduction
  • Experience with advocacy and navigating provincial support services (housing, income, healthcare)
  • Demonstrated practice of social justice, anti-racism, decolonization, and trauma-informed care
  • Knowledge of harm reduction, HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and mental health
  • First Aid certification and experience with naloxone administration
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lived expertise relevant to the position
  • Experience managing hostile interactions using non-violent communication
