About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the engineering lead for Powertrain Systems Reliability Growth (RG) in-vehicle validation.
  • Manage the daily operation of a vehicle test fleet and lead failure root cause analysis.
  • Develop and implement new or improved test procedures, analysis techniques, and processes for zero-emission and conventional internal combustion powertrains.
  • Lead and train engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and project plans.
  • Compile and evaluate powertrain data to compose reports and make recommendations to the engineering community.
  • Align powertrain test plans with Engineering Program Management, powertrain engineering, and vehicle engineering.
  • Represent the Detroit Powertrain team as the RG Technical Powertrain System Lead in technical reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 7 years of experience as a Test Engineer within the automotive or commercial vehicle OEM industry.
  • Proven experience with mechanical and mechatronic systems, including system-level troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Expertise in failure root cause analysis and powertrain engineering test and validation protocols.
  • Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and post-test data analysis.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple concurrent complex engineering projects.
  • Proficiency in professional technical presentations and various engineering documentation tools.
