About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the engineering lead for Powertrain Systems Reliability Growth (RG) in-vehicle validation.
- Manage the daily operation of a vehicle test fleet and lead failure root cause analysis.
- Develop and implement new or improved test procedures, analysis techniques, and processes for zero-emission and conventional internal combustion powertrains.
- Lead and train engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and project plans.
- Compile and evaluate powertrain data to compose reports and make recommendations to the engineering community.
- Align powertrain test plans with Engineering Program Management, powertrain engineering, and vehicle engineering.
- Represent the Detroit Powertrain team as the RG Technical Powertrain System Lead in technical reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 7 years of experience as a Test Engineer within the automotive or commercial vehicle OEM industry.
- Proven experience with mechanical and mechatronic systems, including system-level troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Expertise in failure root cause analysis and powertrain engineering test and validation protocols.
- Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and post-test data analysis.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to coordinate multiple concurrent complex engineering projects.
- Proficiency in professional technical presentations and various engineering documentation tools.
