Systems Engineer - Security

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and maintain enterprise security controls and infrastructure across Windows, Linux, and virtualized environments
• Lead the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of endpoint hardening and security tools such as Ivanti, WSUS, Trellix, or Tenable
• Oversee patch management processes, including OS updates and third-party software upgrades
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization for complex security issues
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including SSPs, RMF artifacts, and engineering diagrams
• Support vulnerability assessments and develop risk-based mitigation strategies
• Conduct system hardening, configuration baselining, and compliance scanning
• Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior and mid-level security engineers

Requirements

• 6+ years of progressive experience designing, engineering, and securing enterprise-scale IT systems
• Senior-level knowledge in architecting and maintaining security infrastructure, including endpoint protection and vulnerability management
• Extensive hands-on experience with enterprise security tools (e.g., Ivanti, WSUS, Trellix, Tenable)
• Strong understanding of security frameworks such as NIST RMF, NIST 800-53, or STIGs
• Active TS/SCI security clearance
• Required IAT/Management-level certification: CASP+, CISSP, or CISM
• Ability to work onsite in Columbia, MD, including supporting Thursday night patching after hours

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree
• Experience working within a Security Operations Center (SOC)
• Prior military experience
