About the role
Responsibilities
- Enable the Muon Mission Foundry by driving processes and architectural decisions to scale spacecraft production and mission operations
- Partner with Mission Systems Engineers to own and track V&V compliance, verification progress, and test coverage campaigns
- Streamline AI&T workflows by identifying V&V bottlenecks and championing pragmatic Test Like You Fly (TLYF) standards
- Analyze on-orbit telemetry and platform operations to maximize utility and capacity of deployed assets
- Drive predictable outcomes by ensuring on-orbit performance matches pre-flight models and monitoring mission SLAs
- Own the fleet-learning loop for cross-cutting technical issues to drive root cause and prevention
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align requirements and resolve interface ambiguities for autonomy and resilience efforts
- Act as a technical stakeholder for internal tooling roadmaps and extend baseline code using software skills
- Make pragmatic, business-driven decisions to balance engineering pain points against revenue and gross margins
Requirements
- M.S. or higher degree in an engineering field
- 8+ years of experience in a multi-disciplinary environment (mission design, spacecraft operations, or systems architecture)
- Experience with deployed systems in high-reliability, performance-critical environments
- Proven business acumen within an engineering context
- Extensive experience in AI&T workflows and V&V strategies
- Strong software skills in Python or Julia
- Ability to model system performance (power, thermal, data throughput) and validate against real-world data
- Excellent communication and prioritization skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of spacecraft autonomy and fault management architectures (FMECA, tiered response design)
- Ability to write requirements for software teams and review FSW designs
- Experience as a lead systems engineer in an agile environment
- Remote sensing instrument experience (optical, multispectral, RF)
- Experience with complex simulation environments
- Familiarity with software engineering tools and version control
