Systems Engineer III

Responsibilities

• Manage operating system configurations, hardware/software designs, and installations to support external customers and internal product development groups.
• Configure, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot web infrastructure services including Red Hat Linux, Windows Server, and web-facing load balancers.
• Support database environments (IBM DB2, Oracle, MySQL) and virtualization platforms like VMWare ESXi and VSphere.
• Author automation scripts using bash, python, java, or Ruby to streamline system operations.
• Provide on-call rotational third-level mission-critical support and implement real-time solutions.
• Manage change control procedures and ensure compliance with security and auditing standards.
• Participate in delivery and product team meetings to represent System Support Engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent.
• 2 to 6 years of practical system administration experience.
• Advanced knowledge of Red Hat Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Proven experience working with internet-facing web servers.
• Strong scripting skills in bash, python, java, or Ruby.
• High-level knowledge of LAN networking, Internet protocols, and troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet or Ansible.
• Familiarity with multi-tiered web applications (LAMP stack).
• Experience with SAN storage solutions (NetApp, IBM Enterprise Storage).
• Knowledge of DNS (bind), SMTP (Exim, Postfix), and web servers like Apache, JBoss, or Tomcat.
