Systems Engineer II, Compute

Responsibilities

• Design highly reliable and performant Linux applications to manage the virtualization stack across global datacenters
• Integrate applications with AI chip-vendor stacks and optimize virtualized hardware like GPUs and Infiniband/ROCe NICs
• Work with Linux Kernel and Hypervisor teams to ensure seamless application integration
• Analyze and enhance virtualization stack performance for AI/ML workloads through profiling and low-level optimizations
• Diagnose and resolve complex system issues involving drivers, kernel, hypervisor, and guest OS
• Conduct code reviews to ensure software quality, reliability, and security
• Collaborate with hardware design, OS development, and AI/ML application teams
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

Requirements

• Experience building applications on Linux kernels (virtualization, device drivers, memory management)
• Solid understanding of hardware devices including GPUs, CPUs, Infiniband, Ethernet NICs, and PCIe
• Strong grasp of distributed applications and scalable systems design (gRPC, REST, TCP/IP, Postgres, Redis, Kafka)
• Proficiency in high-level languages (Golang, Java, Python) and low-level languages (C, C++, Rust)
• Knowledge of hypervisors, virtual machine lifecycles, and Linux KVM tooling
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or GitHub
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with virtualization specifically for AI/ML workloads and GPU virtualization
• Experience debugging or contributing to kernel or hypervisor code
• Experience configuring large-scale bare-metal production environments
