Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end EMI/EMC engineering for an airborne platform, including the control plan, compliance roadmap, and integration strategy
  • Translate platform-level electromagnetic environment requirements into measurable subsystem-level EMI/EMC requirements and KPIs
  • Define and maintain the EMC Control Plan: grounding, bonding, shielding, filtering, and cable segregation philosophies
  • Perform electromagnetic interference analysis across the platform: emissions/susceptibility, antenna-to-antenna coupling, and intermodulation
  • Lead EM modeling and simulation using tools such as CST, FEKO, or HFSS
  • Define zoning, bonding, and grounding architecture for metallic and composite structures
  • Establish the EMI/EMC qualification and verification strategy against standards like MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, or DO-160
  • Own the EMI/EMC test campaign: plans, procedures, chamber, and on-platform testing
  • Coordinate cross-functional design decisions with airframe, avionics, EW, and propulsion teams
  • Manage supplier technical governance for EMI/EMC compliance

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • Proven experience in EMI/EMC engineering for airborne platforms
  • Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory: transmission lines, antennas, and wave propagation
  • Experience with EM simulation tools (CST, FEKO, HFSS, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with NATO/STANAG or national military airworthiness frameworks
  • Experience designing grounding, bonding, and shielding schemes for complex platforms
  • Experience executing EMI/EMC test campaigns including chamber and flight test verification
