Responsibilities

  • Establish User Needs, System Requirements, and traceability to verification and validation
  • Define end-to-end architecture, subsystem boundaries, and interfaces across mechanical, electrical, firmware/software, controls, and test
  • Build integration plans including bring-up sequencing and dependency mapping
  • Lead technical tradeoff studies regarding performance, reliability, safety, cost, and manufacturability
  • Define verification and validation strategies for R&D and end use
  • Drive complex debugging and root-cause analysis across subsystems
  • Lead system-level design reviews and readiness gates
  • Mentor other systems engineers and tech leads
  • Partner with operations to influence DFM/DFT and serviceability
  • Manage vendors to drive technology and verify 3rd party integrated technology
  • Partner with Commercial/Sales to define future developments based on customer needs

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (Masters or PhD preferred) in Bioengineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field
  • 15+ years of Industry experience with 10+ years in biopharma, biotech, or life science
  • Significant experience architecting and integrating complex R&D systems (hardware, software, controls, and test)
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional technical decisions
  • Expert ability to write concise system requirements and define interfaces
  • Deep hands-on troubleshooting capability in lab environments
  • Experience with Python scripting and CAD tools
  • Experience leading products and design releases to Manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with rapid prototyping and evolving requirements
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to create data-driven technical solutions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
