Systems Engineer (Comm & Networks)

Responsibilities

• Design and manage secure government and military network architectures
• Select, place, and configure routers and switches for IP network and WAN architectures
• Implement security services including firewalls, intrusion detection/protection systems, and cross-domain solutions
• Support lab activities using internal Boeing network services
• Utilize COTS-based network appliances and manage network routing protocols
• Implement software-defined networking (SDN) and cloud-based network services

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
• 5 or more years of related work experience in networking engineering
• Strong background in standards-based networking, network management, and IT skills
• Experience with network architecture design, including IP/WAN and Ethernet LAN architectures
• Knowledge of network security technologies and encryption
• U.S. Citizenship required to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• 9 or more years of related work experience
• Experience with Government/Military secure network architectures and appliances
• Familiarity with COTS equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, or Palo Alto Networks
• Proficiency with routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, PIM, and MANET
• Experience with cloud-based or software-defined networking (SDN, SASE, SD-WAN)
• Experience with open-source implementations like FRR or OpenVSwitch
