About the role
Responsibilities
- Design and manage secure government and military network architectures
- Select, place, and configure routers and switches for IP network and WAN architectures
- Implement security services including firewalls, intrusion detection/protection systems, and cross-domain solutions
- Support lab activities using internal Boeing network services
- Utilize COTS-based network appliances and manage network routing protocols
- Implement software-defined networking (SDN) and cloud-based network services
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
- 5 or more years of related work experience in networking engineering
- Strong background in standards-based networking, network management, and IT skills
- Experience with network architecture design, including IP/WAN and Ethernet LAN architectures
- Knowledge of network security technologies and encryption
- U.S. Citizenship required to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- 9 or more years of related work experience
- Experience with Government/Military secure network architectures and appliances
- Familiarity with COTS equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, or Palo Alto Networks
- Proficiency with routing protocols including OSPF, BGP, PIM, and MANET
- Experience with cloud-based or software-defined networking (SDN, SASE, SD-WAN)
- Experience with open-source implementations like FRR or OpenVSwitch
