System Safety Engineer

Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer specifications and regulations to develop safety requirements, constraints, and operating limits
• Develop System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs) and perform various hazard analyses across the full product life cycle
• Conduct analyses including Functional Hazard Analyses (FHA), Preliminary System Safety Analyses (PSSA), and Fault Tree Analyses (FTA)
• Review engineering design specifications, test operations, and change proposals for potential safety impacts
• Collaborate with government, customers, and program domain experts to ensure mission assurance
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations, reports, and risk assessments to senior leadership and regulatory agencies

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field
• 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• 2+ years of experience working across organizations and cross-functional groups for project coordination
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of related work experience (for Mid-Level candidates)
• 1+ years of direct experience with System Safety Engineering
• Experience with aviation safety analysis methods such as MIL-STD-882, SAE ARP4761, or ARP4754
• Knowledge of RTCA DO-178 or DO-254 standards
• Previous experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry or military environments
