About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own machine-level safety cases for autonomous mining vehicle deployments and driverless operations
  • Design and develop hazard identification and risk assessment activities including HAZOP, System FMEA, and Functional Failure Analysis
  • Derive Machine Safety Requirements (MSRs) for brake-by-wire, steer-by-wire, and autonomous motion control systems
  • Analyze hazardous machine behavior and fault propagation paths to identify mitigation measures
  • Support architecture reviews and identify safety gaps across sensing, compute, controls, and hydraulics
  • Collaborate with systems, controls, autonomy, and hardware teams to ensure safety requirements are verified end-to-end
  • Participate in machine bring-up, fault injection, and field testing activities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Systems, or Software Engineering
  • 3+ years of system safety experience with a focus on ISO 26262 Part 6
  • Hands-on experience developing system-level safety analyses for complex electromechanical systems
  • Strong experience with HAZOP, FMEA, and safety case development
  • Understanding of vehicle control systems including braking, steering, and hydraulics
  • Experience producing safety work products across the V-cycle

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ISO 26262 Part 4, HARA, or ADAS/autonomous driving systems
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools like JAMA, DOORS, or Polarion
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards such as ISO 19014, ISO 13849, or IEC 62061
  • Experience in mining, construction, robotics, or heavy equipment programs
