About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform system-level safety activities including technical safety concept development and safety requirement derivation per ISO 26262
  • Conduct system-level safety analyses such as system FMEA, FTA, and dependent failure analysis
  • Support ASIL decomposition and safety requirement allocation across system, hardware, and software elements
  • Derive software safety requirements from Technical Safety Concepts and ensure flow-down to architecture
  • Review software architecture and design for ASIL compliance, partitioning strategies, and safety mechanisms
  • Perform or support software safety analyses (SW-FTA, SW-FMEA) and dependent failure analysis
  • Develop and maintain software safety plans and contribute to software safety case closure
  • Guide software development teams on compliant practices including MISRA and CERT coding standards
  • Maintain end-to-end safety traceability using tools like JAMA or DOORS
  • Engage with external assessors and support third-party audits

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
  • 3+ years of functional safety experience with a focus on software-level safety development
  • Hands-on experience producing safety work products across the V-cycle
  • Experience collaborating across software, hardware, and systems engineering teams
  • Familiarity with requirements management and traceability tools (JAMA, DOORS, Polarion)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with OS, device drivers, and platform-level safety
  • Familiarity with software safety analyses (SW-FTA, SW-FMEA) or safety case development
  • Familiarity with software tool classification and qualification per ISO 26262 Part 8
  • Experience across vehicle domains such as ADAS, propulsion, chassis, or body electronics
  • Exposure to ASPICE (Automotive SPICE) software process assessments
  • Experience working with third-party assessors through audit cycles
