System Safety Engineer

Responsibilities

• Derive and manage safety concepts, requirements and specifications for L4 SDS product line autonomy software and hardware
• Lead development efforts for safety architecture
• Perform safety analysis including FMEA, FTA, and STPA
• Work with verification and validation teams to ensure requirements are met throughout the development process
• Contribute to the overall safety case of the final product
• Promote a culture of safety and provide training and guidance on safety practices
• Monitor safety performance and implement continuous improvement measures
• Develop steps to oversee timely execution of project goals

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in System Safety or Functional Safety Engineering
• MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering
• Expertise in mechanical, electrical, and software engineering
• Experience with ADAS, autonomous systems, and robotics
• Knowledge of automotive standards including ISO 26262, ISO 21448, ISO/DPAS 8800, and UL4600
• Experience driving safety requirements across the V model
• Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and customers

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior work in autonomous vehicles or ADAS
• Understanding of metrics and tying evidence to a safety case
• Project management and leadership experience in the AV industry
• Experience with the safety of ML systems
