About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform cathodic protection measurements and maintain accurate historical records and data entry in the pipeline compliance system (PCS).
  • Assist System Integrity Technicians with troubleshooting, locating, and correcting cathodic protection (CP) deficiencies.
  • Implement remedial activities such as installing anodes, test connections, and performing coating repairs.
  • Coordinate with excavation crews, utility companies, and contractors to secure permits and manage CP system installations.
  • Calibrate, service, and maintain field testing equipment to ensure operational readiness.
  • Prepare corrosion reports and field sketches for integration into GIS and PCS systems.
  • Inspect main and service line casings for proper insulation and protection.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with completed coursework in high school algebra, chemistry, or physics.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong mechanical, mathematical, and electrical aptitude.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Windows, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to learn GIS software and operate GPS equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps.
  • Physical ability to lift/move a safe working weight of 275 lbs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of basic level corrosion training (e.g., AUCSC Appalachian underground corrosion short course) within one year of hire.
  • Ability to attain NACE CP Tester certification (Level 1) within two years of hire.
