About the role
Responsibilities
- Define system requirements from user needs on operational concepts
- Define system and system-of-systems architectures aligned with open standards
- Design and build reference architectures for autonomy, mission, and weapon systems
- Lead development of system engineering models and artifacts
- Develop, deploy, and validate software systems on autonomous vehicles
- Participate in hands-on fieldwork for software deployment and testing
- Work with Perception and Autonomy teams to optimize perception pipelines
- Address inter-vehicle communication and data exchange
- Leverage simulation environments to validate software behavior
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful deployment
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Robotic, Aerospace, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- 5 years of relevant experience designing multi-agent autonomy
- Strong proficiency in Linux and command-line tools
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or C++
- Hands-on experience with robotic systems, sensors (RADAR, cameras), and vehicle autopilots (PX4, ROS)
- Knowledge of communication protocols like DDS or ROS 2
- Experience integrating third-party software and APIs
- Experience with standards such as PYRAMID, FACE, ARP 4754A, or DO-178C
- Experience in systems architecturing and requirements writing
- Ability to work in field environments for troubleshooting and testing
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in autonomy, robotics, aerospace, defense, or safety-critical systems
- Experience working directly with customers or operators in field environments
- Ability to work in fast-paced, evolving environments and remote locations
