System Engineer - Robotics

Responsibilities

• Define system requirements from user needs on operational concepts
• Define system and system-of-systems architectures aligned with open standards
• Design and build reference architectures for autonomy, mission, and weapon systems
• Lead development of system engineering models and artifacts
• Develop, deploy, and validate software systems on autonomous vehicles
• Participate in hands-on fieldwork for software deployment and testing
• Work with Perception and Autonomy teams to optimize perception pipelines
• Address inter-vehicle communication and data exchange
• Leverage simulation environments to validate software behavior
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful deployment

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Robotic, Aerospace, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent
• 5 years of relevant experience designing multi-agent autonomy
• Strong proficiency in Linux and command-line tools
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or C++
• Hands-on experience with robotic systems, sensors (RADAR, cameras), and vehicle autopilots (PX4, ROS)
• Knowledge of communication protocols like DDS or ROS 2
• Experience integrating third-party software and APIs
• Experience with standards such as PYRAMID, FACE, ARP 4754A, or DO-178C
• Experience in systems architecturing and requirements writing
• Ability to work in field environments for troubleshooting and testing
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in autonomy, robotics, aerospace, defense, or safety-critical systems
• Experience working directly with customers or operators in field environments
• Ability to work in fast-paced, evolving environments and remote locations
