System Administrator Intern

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and PowerShell to improve system administration tasks
• Support the configuration, maintenance, and optimisation of Windows-based engineering infrastructure
• Assist with the deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of development, test, and build environments
• Contribute to infrastructure improvement projects to increase reliability, scalability, and security
• Investigate and resolve infrastructure issues in collaboration with Software Engineers and DevOps teams
• Help improve system monitoring, reporting, and operational tooling
• Support identity, access management and endpoint administration activities
• Document infrastructure processes and contribute to operational best practices

Requirements

• 2nd Year, Final Year, or Masters level student in a STEM discipline (Computer Science, Cyber Security, IT, Engineering, etc.)
• Knowledge of Python and PowerShell scripting
• Understanding of Windows operating systems and system administration fundamentals
• Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory)
• Experience using Git or other version control systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest in automating repetitive tasks and improving operational efficiency
• Experience with technical projects outside of academia (personal projects, home labs, or open-source contributions)
• Enthusiasm for Windows administration, infrastructure, and cloud technologies
• Desire to learn modern DevOps and infrastructure management practices
