Synthetic Population Engineer

Epistemix builds simulation and data-driven modeling tools that let leaders visualize how strategies will unfold across populations and systems before they commit resources. We provide access to realistic, high-resolution population data and modeling infrastructure to help organizations move from uncertainty to conviction.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate empirical datasets to enrich the synthetic population with new attributes and social networks
• Utilize simulation techniques, including Agent-Based Models (ABMs), to project future demographic trends
• Improve the geographical plausibility of synthetic environments, including placement of homes, workplaces, and schools
• Expand the geographical coverage of the synthetic population toward a global representation
• Create visualizations for marketing and productizing synthetic populations
• Develop methods for external users to augment synthetic populations with proprietary data
• Work with external vendors to expand the ecosystem of data providers
• Support the synthetic populations team by engaging with customer success, professional services, and engineering teams

Requirements

• Proficient in Python for data science applications
• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
• Experience working with geospatial data
• Experience working with simulation or machine learning models
• PhD or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or Public Health
• Proven track record of building data products or data marketplaces
• Ability to explain complex data models to non-technical users
• Startup mentality with the ability to flex in a fast-paced environment
