SVP, Business & Legal Affairs

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and draft agreements for development, finance, production, delivery, distribution, acquisition, and licensing
• Structure and negotiate co-production agreements, pre-sales, gap financing, and tax incentive transactions
• Negotiate entertainment agreements with talent agents and lawyers, including profit participation and rights agreements
• Interface with Creative, production, marketing, finance, and product departments
• Review budgets and financial data associated with film and television programming
• Oversee production legal, clearance issues, chain-of-title, and underlying rights
• Manage relationships with sales agents, distributors, financiers, and production partners
• Provide strategic guidance on distribution strategy across theatrical, streaming, and ancillary markets
• Collaborate with Finance and Business Development teams on deal economics and participation structures
• Identify and mitigate business and legal risk across transactional activity

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in feature and television business affairs at a production company or studio
• JD and bar admission in California
• Working knowledge of SAG, WGA, DGA basic agreements, and the AFTRA Code
• Significant experience drafting and negotiating general business contracts
• Proven negotiating skills and solid relationships within the talent community
• Ability to handle all aspects of feature business and legal affairs with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with international co-productions and financing structures
• Familiarity with streaming distribution models and evolving digital platforms
