Sustainable Product Design & Material Innovation Intern

Responsibilities

• Explore and integrate low-carbon sourcing options, including post-consumer recycled (PCR) polymers and bio-based materials for automotive lighting components.
• Propose sustainable CMF (Color, Material, Finish) solutions, such as laser texturing or vacuum metallization, to replace polluting chemical processes like chrome.
• Apply Design for Disassembly (DfD) principles by rethinking assemblies to use reversible mechanical fasteners instead of adhesives or welds.
• Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) using simulation tools to measure the carbon footprint of design concepts during the sketching phase.
• Develop a 2030 Light Signature concept including 3D renders and a CMF demonstration mockup.
• Define sustainability KPIs, such as recyclability rates and disassembly indices, to support engineering project reviews.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of circular economy principles (Robustify, Repair, Remanufacture, Recycle).
• Proficiency in 3D rendering tools such as Alias or Keyshot.
• Understanding of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies and tools (e.g., SimaPro or CO2 AI).
• Demonstrated interest in sustainable material sourcing and eco-design.
• Ability to work at the intersection of product design and environmental management.
