About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of the Sustainable Community Schools (SCS) model at McCutcheon Elementary School.
  • Facilitate whole-school and community planning, including convening a representative SCS Leadership Team of youth, parents, and educators.
  • Connect school-based and community-based resources to meet the collective vision of students and families.
  • Conduct community asset mapping to identify neighborhood needs, leaders, and opportunities.
  • Co-design needs assessments and translate findings into strategic programming goals.
  • Manage community school programs, including maintaining attendance records and handling staff timesheets and reimbursements.
  • Foster a culture of reflective learning and collaborate with school leadership to strengthen practice.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience in public schools, education settings, social services, case management, or non-profit administration.
  • Deep commitment to racial justice, equity, and community-led decision-making.
  • Proven experience in community organizing, youth development, or related fields.
  • Strong facilitation, relationship-building, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and electronic recordkeeping systems.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a school setting with occasional evening and weekend availability.
  • Must pass a CPS Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and local community-based organizations.
  • Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish.
  • Experience in restorative practices, culturally sustaining pedagogy, or wraparound service coordination.
