Surveyor

Responsibilities

• Implement and execute project survey plans specific to field operations
• Oversee field operations through periodic reviews of record-keeping, procedures, and audits
• Maintain accurate field notes, sketches, maps, and reports to ensure work clarity and liability coverage
• Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations at project sites
• Set and maintain control networks and perform layout and drawing clarifications
• Ensure all surveying equipment is well-maintained and properly calibrated
• Supervise, teach, and mentor junior members of the surveying team
• Prioritize safety in every aspect of all working duties

Requirements

• 3-10 years of experience in construction surveying, field engineering, or related fields
• Proficiency with GPS, leveling, and robotic total stations (preferably Trimble or Leica)
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar CAD software
• Mathematical proficiency in trigonometry, calculus, and geomatics for complex calculations
• Working knowledge of common Canadian coordinate systems
• Ability to work 40-45 hours per week, including occasional irregular hours or weekends
• Ability to work at heights, in underground passages, and on uneven surfaces

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with surveying in nuclear or large-scale construction projects
• Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics or a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology
• Working at heights training
