About the role
Responsibilities
- Implement and execute project survey plans specific to field operations
- Oversee field operations through periodic reviews of record-keeping, procedures, and audits
- Maintain accurate field notes, sketches, maps, and reports to ensure work clarity and liability coverage
- Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations at project sites
- Set and maintain control networks and perform layout and drawing clarifications
- Ensure all surveying equipment is well-maintained and properly calibrated
- Supervise, teach, and mentor junior members of the surveying team
- Prioritize safety in every aspect of all working duties
Requirements
- 3-10 years of experience in construction surveying, field engineering, or related fields
- Proficiency with GPS, leveling, and robotic total stations (preferably Trimble or Leica)
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar CAD software
- Mathematical proficiency in trigonometry, calculus, and geomatics for complex calculations
- Working knowledge of common Canadian coordinate systems
- Ability to work 40-45 hours per week, including occasional irregular hours or weekends
- Ability to work at heights, in underground passages, and on uneven surfaces
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with surveying in nuclear or large-scale construction projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics or a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology
- Working at heights training
