Survey Crew Chief

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform advanced field surveys within defined project scopes and budgets using efficient methods.
• Interact professionally with project site supervisors and client field representatives.
• Prepare accurate, detailed field notes and daily activity reports in a timely manner.
• Perform in-field calculations for construction stakeout and various land surveys with minimal assistance.
• Manage safety protocols by reviewing Health and Safety Checklists and instructing crew personnel on hazards and PPE.
• Maintain, transport, and operate surveying instruments, equipment, and company vehicles.
• Mentor and train junior field staff to facilitate their career advancement.
• Execute diverse projects including NYDOT design, utility surveys, 3D scanning, topographic surveys, and boundary surveys.

Requirements

• 5+ years of field survey experience, including at least 2+ years as a Crew Chief.
• Proficiency with data collectors, robotic instruments, total stations, and leveling.
• Ability to perform conventional field note-keeping.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel to various project sites.
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
• Strong English communication skills for written and verbal instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with or the ability to learn the use of 3D scanners.
