Surveillance Analyst

Responsibilities

• Monitor and review automated trade and electronic communications surveillance alerts across global trading activity
• Configure existing alerts for new activity or to improve existing studies
• Document investigation findings clearly and maintain a robust audit trail to regulatory standards
• Escalate suspected breaches to senior compliance staff and support market abuse inquiries
• Analyse alert performance data and recommend calibration adjustments
• Contribute to the design, development, and testing of new surveillance scenarios and detection models
• Perform user acceptance testing (UAT) for surveillance system enhancements
• Draft and maintain Business Requirement Documents (BRDs)
• Use SQL, Python, and data visualisation tools to extract and interpret large datasets
• Identify opportunities to automate manual surveillance workflows
• Maintain working knowledge of EU and UK Market Abuse Regulation
• Administer the Personal Account (PA) Dealing framework
• Provide regular Management Information on Surveillance to Boards of Directors

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a STEM field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Market Abuse surveillance
• Proficiency in SQL for querying and analysing large datasets
• Working knowledge of Python and SQL
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using automation and AI to improve processes
• Knowledge and experience of proprietary trading firms
• Experience using electronic communication monitoring systems
