Surgical Technologist

Responsibilities

• Assist the obstetrical team during deliveries and operative procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Prepare operative procedure rooms, sterile equipment, and supplies for surgical cases.
• Pass instruments, sponges, and sutures to the operating team during procedures.
• Manage, inventory, and transport surgical instruments and devices to ensure efficient processing.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and family-centered environment for childbearing mothers and newborns.
• Perform physical activities including standing for long periods, transporting patients, and positioning equipment.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, and medical staff.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited or military Surgical Technologist program.
• Ability to perform moderate standing, walking, lifting, and patient positioning.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in inpatient perinatal or newborn care.
• Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
• Previous experience working as a Surgical Technologist.
• Experience with family-centered care philosophy.
• Completion of a Nurse Aide or Medical Assistant program with acute inpatient experience.
