Surgical Technologist II

Responsibilities

• Independently perform the surgical scrub role in the operative field for all services, including adult and pediatric.
• Assist nursing and medical staff in providing care to patients undergoing surgical intervention.
• Demonstrate infection control practices by utilizing proper aseptic techniques.
• Set up instruments, supplies, and equipment according to surgeon preference cards and standards of care.
• Perform counts (sponge, needle, and instrument) and ensure proper handling of specimens and medications on the sterile field.
• Collaborate with the Circulating RN, Specialty Manager, and Central Sterile Processing to determine patient needs and maintain specialty instrumentation.
• Inventory and restock supplies in individual OR suites and Specialty Service carts.
• Maintain and troubleshoot video systems in collaboration with clinical engineering and vendors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• 1-3 years of Operating Room experience.
• CST certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire).
• BLS certification.
• Ability to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks, including wearing lead aprons (10-25 lbs) for prolonged periods.
• Ability to fulfill on-call responsibilities and maintain composure in stressful or emergency situations.
