Surgical Technologist I

Responsibilities

• Perform surgical scrub roles within the operative field for both adult and pediatric services
• Apply knowledge of surgical techniques, emergency/trauma situations, and aseptic procedures
• Demonstrate infection control practices and utilize proper sterile techniques
• Prepare operating rooms by setting up instruments, supplies, and equipment according to surgeon preference cards
• Monitor the sterile field, perform counts (sponges, needles, instruments), and handle specimens
• Assist in patient positioning and the opening of sterile packs and supplies
• Maintain and troubleshoot video systems and surgical equipment
• Inventory and restock supplies in individual OR suites and specialty service carts
• Collaborate with nursing, anesthesia, and surgical teams to ensure high-quality patient care

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• CST certification (can be obtained within 12 months of hire)
• BLS certification
• Ability to maintain composure under stressful circumstances and prioritize daily activities
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a surgical team
