Surgical Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the surgeon, registered nurse, and anesthesiologist in the operating room
• Ensure proper supplies, equipment, and instruments are ready for use
• Clean and restock operating rooms to meet par levels
• Arrange instruments and supplies for surgical procedures and anticipate surgeon needs
• Maintain sterile technique and report any observed breaks in protocol
• Ensure proper counting of sponges, instruments, and sharps
• Assist in gowning personnel and draping patients
• Prepare and preserve specimens
• Verify medication name, strength, and dosage with the circulator

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology
• BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of current Surgical Tech experience in an OR setting
• CST certification verified via NBSTSA
