Surgical Representative

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary staff liaison for surgery patients from the initial physician recommendation through the completion of surgery
• Provide financial planning and support to patients and physicians to facilitate surgical scheduling
• Verify patient eligibility and benefits, and obtain necessary pre-authorizations for surgical procedures
• Review surgical procedures with doctors to provide CPT and ICD coding recommendations
• Communicate with registration desks, utilization management, nurses, and medical directors to secure clinical documentation
• Inform prospective patients of insurance coverage, financial responsibilities, and establish payment plans
• Track the status of pending pre-certifications and maintain updated authorization reports for the clinical team

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 5 years of experience performing a full range of clerical support services
• Proficiency in medical terminology
• Experience identifying and using ICD-10 and CPT codes
