Surgical Oncologist

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and develop comprehensive surgical treatment plans for patients with solid tumours and cancer-related conditions.
• Perform complex oncological surgeries, including tumour resections, organ-preserving procedures, and reconstructive techniques.
• Collaborate with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists in multidisciplinary tumour boards.
• Ensure appropriate preoperative assessment and postoperative care, including complication management and follow-up.
• Utilise minimally invasive and advanced surgical techniques where clinically appropriate.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment options, risks, and expected outcomes.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to evidence-based oncology guidelines and international best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of experience post specialist or board certification.
• Recognised specialist qualifications such as American Board (with Surgical Oncology fellowship), UK CCT, European Board, Royal College (Canada), FRACS, or equivalent.
• Expertise in complex oncological surgeries and advanced surgical techniques.
• Eligibility for DHA, DOH, or MOH licensing in the UAE.
