Surgical Assist/Preservationist

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical assistance and organ preservation for donor grafts
• Assist in all aspects of organ procurement including packing supplies and OR set-up using aseptic technique
• Ensure proper organ packaging per OPTN guidelines and adherence to all protocols
• Recover donor grafts in compliance with state, federal, and local laws and client regulations
• Collaborate with Quality and Operations staff to develop best practice protocols
• Train and evaluate new team members
• Provide expert knowledge on the usability of Paragonix devices and support teams in their use
• Deliver high-quality customer service and communication with multi-discipline teams

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Health Science or equivalent experience in a transplant-related field
• Experience in pre-operative and post-operative care of transplant donor and recipient patients (minimum 20 heart and 20 lung transplants in a UNOS approved program, or 20 thoracic transplants over the last 2 years)
• Ability to safely and consistently lift up to 75 pounds
• Ability to travel via private and commercial ground and air transport
• Ability to respond to an operational hub within 2 hours or a major commercial airport within 1 hour

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist
• ABTC certification as a CPT or CPTC
• Certification as a CSFA or RN FA
