Surgical Assistant

Responsibilities

• Assist oral surgeons during surgical procedures and prepare necessary instruments, materials, and equipment
• Monitor patient vital signs during procedures and provide support as needed
• Communicate with patients in-person and by phone in a professional manner
• Assist with postoperative care, including patient education and follow-up instructions
• Maintain clean operatories, adequate supplies, and equipment maintenance
• Accurately document patient encounters and surgical procedures
• Perform monthly office safety checks including crash carts, fire extinguishers, and X-ray unit calibration
• Ensure adherence to controlled substance safety protocols and inventory accuracy

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Previous clinical experience
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong knowledge of oral surgery procedures

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as an oral surgery assistant or dental assistant
• Some college education
