Surety Underwriting Assistant Manager

Responsibilities

• Provide technical underwriting expertise and guidance to Business Units and Underwriters to support business plans and customer service excellence.
• Contribute to the implementation of underwriting strategies, including pricing, product development, and underwriting tools.
• Monitor underwriting strategy performance through metrics, data, and insights.
• Operate within established Risk Policy, Global Underwriting Policy, and underwriting governance policies.
• Support portfolio management by analyzing profitability and growth in specialty business areas.
• Assist in the development of technical underwriting guidelines, best practices, and training content.
• Resolve technical problems by referring to established policies, procedures, and specifications.
• Participate in compliance-related queries, including regulatory exams and insurance department inquiries.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting; OR
• High School Diploma and 4+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting; OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 2+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Previous experience within the insurance industry.
