Support Worker - Transitional Housing

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor resident activity during assigned shifts to ensure safety and stability
• Respond to resident inquiries and provide support during physical, emotional, or mental health crises
• Provide initial response to emergencies, including fire alarms and critical incidents
• Complete wellness and building safety checks regularly
• Assist with resident intake, departures, applications, and maintaining accurate files and records
• Help residents connect to community supports, government services, and Salvation Army programs
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times

Requirements

• High school diploma
• Minimum 10 months of experience in a residential or supportive housing setting
• First Aid / CPR certification
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training (or willingness to be trained)
• Addictions and/or Mental Health training (or willingness to be trained)
• WHMIS and FOODSAFE Level 1 (or willingness to be trained)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Criminal Record Review Act clearance to work with vulnerable adults
• Strong de-escalation, problem-solving, and communication skills
