Supplier Quality Engineer

Responsibilities

• Review and approve supplier quality plans using standard APQP and PPAP methods
• Act as a liaison between Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve quality issues
• Conduct in-depth product and process reviews of the existing supply base to meet Nexteer and OEM standards
• Determine the root cause of supplier quality issues through structured problem-solving and implement timely solutions
• Identify part critical characteristics and required process controls
• Improve supplier quality performance by conducting workshops at supplier locations
• Provide technical expertise to optimize supplier quality systems and manufacturing processes
• Support the design of tooling and gauges (variable and attribute)
• Assist product engineers with design manufacturability

Requirements

• 2+ years of relevant engineering or quality experience
• Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of manufacturing experience
• Proficiency in print reading, interpretation, and part measurement
• Knowledge of statistical quality control and design of experiments
• Ability and willingness to travel 30-60% (primarily within the US and Canada)
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of geometric design, tolerance, and gage design tolerance
• Proficiency in Minitab
• Knowledge of industry supplier quality standards, policies, and procedures
• Demonstrated ability to investigate quality problems and apply sound technical judgment
