Supplier Development Engineer

Responsibilities

• Translate product and engineering requirements into sourcing and supplier requirements
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on technical capability, cost, quality, and scalability
• Support selection and qualification of components including power distribution, PCB assemblies, mechanical structures, and thermal systems
• Partner with electrical, mechanical, and thermal engineering teams during design reviews to provide input on manufacturability and cost
• Drive design-for-cost and value engineering initiatives
• Resolve technical performance issues and manufacturing or quality concerns directly with suppliers
• Support BOM development, AVL/AML alignment, and lifecycle risk mitigation

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Supply Chain, or equivalent technical discipline)
• 3+ years of experience in sourcing engineering, supplier engineering, or technical procurement
• Experience supporting new product development (NPD) or manufacturing environments
• Technical knowledge of electrical power distribution, PCB assemblies, mechanical assemblies, or thermal/cooling systems
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Strong understanding of cost drivers, lead times, and supply chain risk management

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in data center infrastructure, power systems, or thermal solutions
• Familiarity with UL, IEC, ISO, or ASHRAE standards
• Experience with PLM/ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
• Background in value engineering, should-cost analysis, or supplier development
• Knowledge of design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) methodologies
