About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical selection, qualification, and development of suppliers for battery raw materials, cell components, and contract manufacturing partners
  • Drive supplier industrialization from initial process assessment through pilot, qualification, and production ramp
  • Evaluate supplier manufacturing flows, process capability, capacity, and expansion plans to mitigate risk
  • Partner with suppliers to optimize process performance, yield, quality controls, and manufacturability
  • Establish and approve quality planning deliverables including APQP/PPAP, control plans, PFMEA, SPC, and MSA
  • Support implementation of IQC, IPQC, and OQC systems at supplier sites
  • Lead on-site supplier audits focused on technical capability and manufacturing discipline
  • Drive failure analysis and corrective action using 8D and root cause analysis methods
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, operations, and supply chain teams

Requirements

  • B.S. or higher in Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in supplier development or manufacturing engineering within lithium-ion batteries or advanced manufacturing
  • Experience conducting supplier audits (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or AS9100)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30–40%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of battery cell manufacturing (electrode coating, assembly, formation)
  • Working knowledge of PFMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA/GRR, Cpk, and DOE
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with battery failure analysis and metrology
  • Korean language capability
