Superworm Biologist

Responsibilities

• Perform standard and complex laboratory procedures for sponsored research projects
• Conduct superworm feeding trials and manage bioinformatics associated with gut microbiomes
• Maintain accurate and timely records of test results and apply quality control procedures
• Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on specialized laboratory equipment
• Manage supply inventory and prepare solutions, reagents, media, or stains for prescribed tests
• Collect data, organize files, and participate in regular meetings with the Principal Investigator

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, or high school diploma with some college and 1-2 years of related laboratory experience
• Technical proficiency in laboratory settings and strong attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reports and presentations
• Ability to work independently, show individual initiative, and ensure compliance with safety procedures
• Willingness to work flexible hours as necessary to meet project needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working specifically with superworms
• Knowledge of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances)
• Proficiency in bioinformatics
