About the role
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise Operating Engineers (Boiler Operators) and provide on-site coverage for power plants during afternoons and weekends
- Plan and execute preventive, regular, and emergency maintenance through operators, contractors, and vendors
- Maintain plant safety, functionality, operational regulatory compliance, and appearance
- Prepare weekly work schedules, including overtime and time-off requests, and manage staff attendance
- Diagnose power plant equipment problems and coordinate startup/shutdown procedures to ensure uninterrupted service
- Provide training and leadership to Operating Engineers to promote a culture of safety and professional development
- Interface with the payroll department to review timesheets and correct errors
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in facility supervision or in a lead, supervisory, or managerial capacity
- New Jersey Red Seal Engineer’s (1B) second class stationary engineer’s license
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- In-depth knowledge of power plant facilities and high-pressure boiler plants
- Ability to function effectively in a unionized environment
