Supervisor, Histology

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day histology laboratory operations to ensure production throughput and quality requirements are met
• Directly supervise histology staff, including scheduling, coaching, mentoring, and conducting performance assessments
• Act as a liaison between accessioning, histology, and cross-functional groups such as IT, Customer Service, and Engineering
• Resolve technical problems and monitor test performance in accordance with established laboratory policies
• Ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA, and NY regulations and maintain stringent quality standards
• Drive staff training and competency assessments in partnership with the lab training team
• Assist management with laboratory projects, process improvements, and the implementation of new test procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a scientific field
• 6+ years of laboratory experience
• Detailed knowledge of CAP, CLIA, and NY regulations
• Proficiency with LIMS and Microsoft Office
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a high-volume clinical or surgical pathology laboratory
• Experience with project management
• HT(ASCP) or HLT(ASCP) certification
• Active QIHC (Qualification in Immunohistochemistry) through the ASCP Board of Certification
