Supervisor Health, Safety, and Risk Management

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Health, Safety, and Risk Management (HSRM) system
• Maintain the Certificate of Recognition (COR) and implement audit action plans
• Lead and mentor a team of HSRM professionals
• Create and update safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in line with legislative requirements
• Coordinate WCB claims, disability management, and return-to-work programs
• Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify and mitigate workplace hazards
• Lead investigations into workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses
• Maintain and test emergency response plans through drills and exercises
• Administer insurance claims and liaise with insurers and adjusters
• Deliver training sessions and coordinate safety-related events

Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
• 3–5 years of progressive health, safety, and risk management supervisory experience
• 3 years of experience conducting investigations and audits
• Experience maintaining Certificate of Recognition (COR)
• In-depth knowledge of Alberta’s OHS legislation, regulations, and code
• Proficiency in safety management systems and software
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license with acceptable driver’s abstract

Preferred Qualifications

• Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation
• Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation
• Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation
• Experience with Alberta Municipal Health and Safety Association (AMHSA)
