About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide direct supervision to front-line Facilities Management staff and coordinate workloads.
- Manage operational quality by inspecting work for conformance to job specifications and regulatory standards.
- Oversee financial management and planning, including formulating strategic infrastructure renewal recommendations.
- Perform personnel development functions to maintain a productive and safe work environment.
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, infection prevention, and control guidelines.
- Act as an operational reference point for internal and external project teams.
- Backfill the Manager of Facility Operations when required.
Requirements
- Completion of a 2-year community college program in Electrical, Millwright, Carpentry, or Plumbing.
- Mandatory TSSA Class 2 Operating Engineer certification or greater.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in supervisory or managerial positions.
- At least 4 years of practical, related technical experience.
- Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and regulatory standards.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and manuals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to generate reports and spreadsheets.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a unionized workforce.
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership in professional organizations such as CHES, BOMA, IFMA, or ASHRAE.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience working within a hospital or healthcare engineering environment.
