About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to service engineering staff, overseeing day-to-day laboratory equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for service engineers, conducting routine check-ins and managing workload coverage.
- Oversee the quality of mechanical work performed and ensure all documentation adheres to Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Commission new laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, liquid handling robots, and shakers, and perform instrument installations and qualifications.
- Manage staff performance through coaching, conducting performance reviews, and supporting employee engagement initiatives.
- Coordinate with technical service teams to improve company processes, technical documentation, and training methodologies.
- Monitor and respond to incoming support requests from cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Molecular Biology, Electronics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in service engineering or a related industry.
- 3+ years of experience supporting the administration or execution of a service program.
- 2+ years of experience leading or directing people or project teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, including potential overnight or weekend travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience leading and directing people or project teams.
- Experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) or digital pathology imaging.
- Experience maintaining histology equipment or automation equipment.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude for repairing complex laboratory equipment like liquid handling robots.
- Working knowledge of clinical laboratory service operations.
