Supervisor, Engine Build

Responsibilities

• Perform critical engine assembly operations including free-piston and linear motion assemblies
• Oversee daily production coordination and technician development as a player-coach
• Validate new work instructions through first-article builds
• Lead daily standups covering safety, quality, and build priorities
• Ensure strict adherence to torque, alignment, and sealing specifications
• Train and qualify technicians through side-by-side builds and real-time coaching
• Partner with engineering to translate test findings into assembly improvements

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 6–10 years of precision mechanical assembly experience
• 2+ years as a lead technician or working supervisor
• Experience in prototype or pilot build environments
• Background in advanced engines, aerospace, or high-tolerance electromechanical assemblies
• Proficiency with micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with free-piston engines or linear generators
• Background in combustion systems or pressure vessels
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems
• Experience scaling from prototype to pilot production
