Supervisor Clinical Laboratory

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily laboratory operations, including sample processing, workflow coordination, and equipment utilization.
• Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance feedback to laboratory and support staff.
• Verify personnel training and proficiency prior to independent testing on patient specimens.
• Monitor staff adherence to SOPs, quality control measures, and regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, OSHA).
• Manage scheduling, staffing, and workload distribution to meet operational priorities.
• Direct onboarding, training, and competency assessments for new and existing staff.
• Serve as an escalation point for troubleshooting complex operational and technical issues.
• Maintain laboratory compliance with safety standards, including PPE use and hazardous waste handling.
• Prepare and review documentation for audits, inspections, and internal quality reviews.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 6–8 years of relevant laboratory or technical experience.
• Prior experience in a team lead or supervisory role.
• Knowledge of laboratory regulations including CAP, CLIA, NYSDOH, and ISO 15189.
• Experience operating within regulated environments such as FDA 21 CFR or clinical study environments (GCP).
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
