Supervising Public Health Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide assignments and schedules for nursing and paraprofessional staff
• Utilize Automated Student Health Record (ASHR) to generate reports
• Conduct in-service trainings and plan staff development activities
• Participate in recruitment and orientation of new staff
• Analyze data collected in OSH management reports
• Conduct site visits to schools to provide clinical supervision of nurses, advisors, and assistants
• Collaborate with the OSH team to plan initiatives
• Monitor inventory of medical supplies and equipment
• Serve on emergency teams for bioterrorism attacks and other emergencies

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from a regionally-accredited college or university
• Current license and registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
• Permanent status in the civil service title of Public Health Nurse
• Compliance with New York State Sanitary Code Section 11.42 for supervisory levels

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in planning and program development
• Knowledge of DOHMH and DOE personnel policies and procedures
• At least one year of supervisory experience
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
