Supervising Public Health Nurse, Bureau of School Health

Responsibilities

• Precept newly hired nurses, public health advisers, and public health assistants
• Supervise public health advisers and provide clinical supervision during school site visits
• Support staff with nursing and administrative procedures
• Conduct interviews, meetings, in-service training, and special projects
• Serve as a training resource for school health and Department of Education staff

Requirements

• BSN from an accredited college or university
• Current New York State RN license and registration
• Permanent candidate status
• Supervisory qualification for Assignment Levels II and III
• Knowledge of DOHMH and DOE policies and procedures
• Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, and Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Planning and program development experience
• Analytical skills
• Experience in school health or public health nursing
