Supervising Attorney for Training

Responsibilities

• Create, implement, and manage a training, mentoring, and continuing legal education (CLE) program for 18-B Panel attorneys
• Initiate outreach to attorneys, courts, and bar associations to assess training needs
• Identify and engage expert presenters for educational sessions
• Develop training and CLE classes in various formats including live training and webinars
• Arrange for the recording and online posting of training sessions
• Create and update training materials
• Implement pre and post-training assessments and use data to guide programming
• Track registration and attendance to meet state requirements
• Inform attorneys of external training opportunities from law schools and advocacy groups

Requirements

• Admission to the New York State Bar
• Four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant legal experience
• Eighteen months of experience in attorney supervision or highly complex legal work in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity
• Must remain a member of the New York State Bar in good standing

About the Company

The Assigned Counsel Plan (ACP) provides quality legal services to indigent persons in consultation with the Presiding Justices of the Appellate Divisions. Funded by the City of New York, the ACP provides compensation to private attorneys for representing indigent clients charged with criminal offenses.
