About the role
About the Company
Pursuant to Article 18-B of the County Law, the Assigned Counsel Plan (ACP) has been providing quality legal services to indigent people since 1966. ACP provides compensation to private attorneys representing indigent clients charged with criminal offenses.
Responsibilities
- Supervise Homicide Panel attorneys and provide guidance on legal and forensic issues
- Provide high-quality training, mentoring, and coaching to attorneys throughout New York City
- Assist in retaining experts including investigators, social workers, DNA experts, and medical examiners
- Observe hearings and homicide trials to evaluate client services
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- Four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant legal experience
- Eighteen months of experience in attorney supervision or performing highly complex legal work
- Must remain a member of the New York State Bar in good standing
