About the role

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise one to five staff attorneys in housing rights litigation, including eviction defense, fair housing claims, and tenant association representation.
  • Maintain a personal caseload of complex litigation matters in state and federal courts.
  • Conduct weekly check-ins with supervisees to review cases, provide litigation strategy guidance, and ensure professional development.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Litigation to meet grant deliverables, organizational goals, and performance indicators.
  • Liaise with community partners, elected officials, and coalitions to advance housing justice and develop collaborative networks.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients, including staffing clinics and leading community education events.
  • Work closely with organizers to ensure legal and community organizing efforts are synchronized.
  • Manage detailed case records using LegalServer and Google Drive.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in housing rights litigation.
  • Proven ability to supervise staff attorneys and provide professional coaching.
  • Expertise in state and federal court proceedings, including New York City Civil Court and Federal District Courts.
  • Experience representing tenant associations and working within community-based frameworks.
  • Ability to manage a significant caseload while providing high-quality legal representation.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $110,000.00 – $135,000.00, commensurate with experience.
