Superior Court Commissioner

Responsibilities

• Preside over a weekly Civil Protection Order (CPO) docket every Wednesday.
• Conduct hearings, issue rulings, and enter orders or review initial requests for CPOs.
• Manage various family law hearings, including temporary parenting plans, child support determinations, parentage cases, and uncontested dissolutions.
• Oversee juvenile offender matters and dependency proceedings, including shelter care and fact-finding trials.
• Handle contempt matters and family law ex parte proceedings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school (or admission pursuant to APR 6).
• Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the practice of law.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience practicing law specifically in the State of Washington.
• Active admission to practice law in the State of Washington.
• United States citizenship.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check by the Washington State Police or Clark County Sheriff.
• No outstanding, unresolved Washington State Bar Association (WSBA) complaints.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience serving as a pro tem judge.
• Specific experience handling Civil Protection Order proceedings.

Benefits

• This is a part-time position (0.2 FTE) with a court-appointed salary of $102.75/hr.
• Please note: This specific part-time position is not eligible for benefits.
